The Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks board is meeting to discuss city facilities, and this is our chance to be heard.

The competition pool at Expo Center has been closed since September 2025. The pool heaters needed to be replaced. In that week, the water in the pool wasn't being recirculated. The water drained almost completely in just four days, indicating a massive leak in the pool.
No. The Family Pool remains open for lap and recreational swimming. The 50 meter competition pool has been shut down.

My name is Jasper Halkowich. I am a lifeguard here at Expo Pool.
The closure of the competition pool has impacted our entire community. I learned to swim, made amazing friends, and trained to become a lifeguard in this pool. I grew up jumping off the diving board and coming to the pool parties. I am saddened by the closure of the competition pool, and I want to do everything in my power to see it opened again.
